Description

Hybred-State PreAmp is a mix of solid-state technology and old-school vacuum-tubes, inspired by my recent completion of the Marshall 8100 project.

This is a two-channel preamp :

Channel A consists of a "Blues Breaker" -type overdrive preamp, with Gain Control, that flows through 1/2 of a 12AX7 Vacuum-tube. 

Channel B consists of a "ProCo Rat" -type distortion preamp, with Gain Control that flows through the other 1/2 of the same 12AX7 Vacuum-tube, with a Saturation Control.

Both channels have their own output Level Controls.

For more "headroom", I have incorportated my BuckBoost Module (also available in my projects) to provide the 2xVCC and negative(-) voltages for the opamps. Plus, I have also incorportated my High Voltage Module (provided in my projects) to supply the 12AX7 Vacuum-tube with the necessary high-voltage on the tube Plate pin.

A Relay selects between Channel A and Channel B via either a footswitch jack connection or an on-board slide switch (your choice).

A bi-colored LED (green/red) displays which channel is active.

The audio signal then is routed to a passive Tone Stack- Bass, Mids, Treble- then into an output opamp.

It can be used as an Amp-Top Effect and plugged into your guitar amplifier for that old-school warm tube-sound coupled with popular guitar stompbox-type effects preamps!

I added a Balanced Output for direct recording!
