Description

This is an adapter that allows you to use a DIP8 op-amp to repair a SIL8 op-amp.
Note: Most PCBs designed with SIL8 have area and height limitations, so this project may not be valid. Due to the structure, IC sockets cannot be used on the DIP8 part. You have no choice but to solder the op-amp directly.

There are some ideas, but to mount in a narrow space, you will need to fix it with a hot glue gun, cut off the protruding pins, use a glue heat shrink tube, etc., depending on the situation.

How to use

1. Mounting image and confirmation.

Decide whether to place the IC on the front or back of the SIL8 pin arrangement, and insert the L-angle pin header from the back of the IC. Do not solder yet. Check in which direction the adapter pin, board, and IC are thicker than one pin on the actual board.

2. Cut the protruding part with pliers
Mount the pin header and cut the protruding part. This is not 8 pins, but the part that interferes with the IC. In other words, it is 4 pins. Unmount after cutting.
Mount the IC and cut off any protruding parts that interfere with the pin header. After cutting, unmount it.

3. Soldering
Mount the pin header and solder it. Mount the IC and solder the four pins that interfere with the pin header from above the IC. This is the most important point in this project. Solder the four that do not interfere as usual. This is why you cannot use an IC socket.

There are other methods, but it is best to use an L-angle pin header, and this is the recommended way to use it.

4. Safety
Ensure safety by using a hot glue gun or glue heat shrink tube depending on the environment.

Finally, it is cheaper and you can get more by ordering panelized, so try it as a learning experience.
