Description
I designed a step-down (buck) switching regulator circuit using the TP6841S8 IC to convert +5V input to a stable +3.3V output. The purpose of this circuit is to provide an efficient power supply to 3.3V logic components in my project. Here’s a breakdown of the key components and their functions:
-
U1 (TP6841S8): This is the main buck converter IC that switches the input voltage to generate a lower, regulated output. It includes internal MOSFETs and operates efficiently at high frequency.
-
C1 (22uF) and C2 (100nF): These input capacitors filter the input voltage and provide a stable supply to the IC.
-
R1 (1kΩ) and JP (jumper): Used for enabling or disabling the regulator (EN pin). When connected to GND through R1, the regulator is enabled.
-
L1 (47µH): The inductor stores energy during the switch-on period and releases it during the off-cycle to maintain output current.
-
R2 (75kΩ) and R3 (24kΩ): These resistors form a voltage divider to set the output voltage via the feedback (FB) pin.
-
C3, C4 (22uF each): These output capacitors filter and stabilize the 3.3V output.
This design ensures high efficiency and minimal heat loss, making it ideal for battery-powered or embedded systems. I created the PCB layout using EasyEDA, carefully placing components to minimize noise and optimize current flow.
