Description
This PCB is designed to be compatible with Tron Identity Program devices that accept identity chips. A 150-mil SOIC-8 chip is soldered upside-down in the center hole of the PCB in order to keep the PCB narrow enough to fit into the identity chip slot.
The SMD components at the top of the chip also act as the handle to pull out when removing the identity chip. The through-holes at the top of the chip are an alternative footprint for the 10k resistor; allowing the use of a through-hole resistor to become the handle rather than the surface mount components.
