Description

Features

Besides all the basic features to power the PIC, this schematic offers the following features:

  • Extremely compact board.
  • Integrated TTL, so you can interact with the USART directly from the same USB that powers the PIC.
  • 5V regulator that accepts up to 12V, making it possible to power from the Vin pin with a higher power source.
  • 3.3V regulator to keep Arduino compatibility
  • Integrated LED to pin RC5 (pin 13 in Arduino layout) with its own resistor
  • PWR LED
  • RX/TX LED status
  • Reset button

Pinout

The pinout has been made following the Arduino Nano 33 IoT pinout, so any Arduino board will be compatible with this board*.

Also, you can connect the Pickit directly to the board; no jumper cables required!

*The PIC18F4321 has an operating voltage of 5V, while some arduinos works at 3.3V. The board is slightly higher than the Arduino Nano, but the distance between pins is the same. Also, all analog capabilities may not work with this microcontroller.

Known errors

  • The TX/RX LED should be reversed. Right now it stays always on and stops when data is flowing (instead of blinking when it is flowing).
