Description
This project focuses on designing and analyzing a variable DC voltage regulator using the LM317 adjustable linear regulator. The circuit converts an input voltage ranging from 2–30 V into a stable and adjustable output voltage suitable for powering various electronic loads. By using a fixed resistor and a variable potentiometer, the design allows users to fine-tune the output voltage from approximately 1.25 V up to the input voltage minus the dropout margin. Additional components such as capacitors improve stability and filtering, ensuring clean and reliable output performance. This project highlights the principles of linear voltage regulation, load behavior, heat dissipation, and practical considerations such as component selection and circuit safety. It demonstrates how a simple, low-cost regulator can be applied in bench power supplies, prototype testing, and educational electronics
