Project Description

The project plans to build an integrated desktop multimedia terminal with features including:

  1. Dual-channel desktop HiFi power amplifier (three input modes: 3.5mm, USB decoding, Bluetooth);
  2. Desktop charging station, support wireless charging;
  3. Multimedia display terminal, support to display more media information, and even can be used as a secondary screen.
  4. Built-in AC-DC power supply solution, refusing to connect external large brick adapters.
  5. It must look good! As a desktop terminal, this is the most important.

Project-related features

1. Two-channel desktop HiFi power amplifier;

  1. SUPPORTS ADVANCED 3.5MM HEADPHONE JACK;

2. Desktop charging station

(The design of gallium nitride was partially changed, because the transformer needed to be customized, the protocol chip was not easy to buy, and it was difficult for everyone to reproduce, so it was decided to change to a general solution to facilitate everyone's replication)

This part originally thought that there were no pits, but there were really a lot of pits when it was actually made, and the gallium nitride scheme that was chosen at the beginning was also done by netizens, but the display of high-frequency transformers needs to be customized, this is okay, you can buy it with money, the second is that the fast charging protocol chip can't buy 65W, only 20W, what is the point of gallium nitride, and the third is that the voltage from the gallium nitride power supply is not clean, and the noise is relatively large, resulting in a serious noise floor in the power amplifier part, and then start testing the ordinary switching power supply, I tried a few cheaper effects are not ideal, almost have to give up, if it is not for the limited space in the chassis, I want to go directly to the ring cow, before doing LM3886 power amplifier, the effect of using the ring cow is very good. In the end, I unintentionally tried a display power supply that I had in my hand.,The effect is still good.,Let's do it first.,Let's think of a better solution later.
  3. The common power supply of the wireless charging part and the power amplifier part will cause the problem of increased noise floor when wireless charging is working.

3. Multimedia display terminal.

  1. Support HDMI audio and video input;
  2. Support 40Pin-30Pin-iPad3/4EDP screen driver;
  3. Extract audio information to the amplifier module.
  4. NCS8803 video signal processing scheme.

This part of the debugging is the most difficult part, wasted too much of my time, at the beginning of the screen drive can not be, the later is HDMI data is not through, in addition to participating in the activity proofing of the board, I closed the board twice, and finally only tuned through a board, the success rate is too low, once suspected that there is a problem with the skills of their own drawing board, the cost of before and after completely exceeds the cost of buying a finished board, if there are friends who want to reproduce this project, it is highly recommended to buy a finished board instead of this function, the corresponding 3D printing file, It also supports the most common dual mini HDMI driver boards that can be bought, so don't compete with yourself.

4. It must be good-looking!

  1. As a desktop terminal, this is the most important, the shell plans to use Jia Li Chuang's CNC aluminum alloy design, cathodized surface treatment, in order to be compatible with wireless charging, the top is 3D printing, which is also digging a pit for yourself, 3D printed shell after a long time (about 1 month), there will be a large degree of deformation, resulting in the part combined with the aluminum chassis can not be stuck together tightly (just printed back), there is a buckle break, the screw can not be installed normally.

 

Project Properties

This project is the first public and is my original project. The project has not won an award in another competition.

It's not great, but it's forbidden to make a fork for commercial use.

20230211, PCB design completed, SMT application submitted. Started shell design.

20230222, the shell design is 70% complete (the main CNC structure is completed, and the 3D printing structure is in progress);

20230222, PCB proofing has been completed and debugging has started (USB decoding, dual-channel power amplifier, and integrated power supply module have been adjusted);

20230310, hardware debugging is in progress.

The exterior design is updated, with a contrasting design, the lower part is made of aluminum alloy oxidation process, and the upper part is 3D printed (mainly for wireless charging)

In addition, the display part adopts a detachable design to facilitate the needs of different users.

Design Principles

  • The USB decoding part adopts the STM32F4+WM8978 scheme;

  • The power amplifier part adopts TPA3116 scheme;

  • The HDMI part adopts the NCS8803 scheme;

  • The power management part adopts LM5122 scheme;

 

Software Description

2. Debugging of the front TFT screen-Speaker panels. Two 3-inch full-range speakers are used, the upper part of the middle is the display screen, the middle is the volume adjustment, and the lower half is the selection of the audio source channel.

6. The rear bracket adopts 3D printing to save some costs.

7. This is a 3D printed version, and the texture is just a little worse.

8. The debugging of the integrated motherboard is too troublesome, and the installation is also a bit problematic, and it is finally disassembled and assembled.

9. Due to space reasons, the motherboard was cut and installed in blocks (the motherboard was designed in a modular design)

However, the motherboard of V1.0 is still too complicated, and it is not recommended that you copy it, and you can consider the simplified version of V2.0 if necessary.

Design Considerations (Large Crater Found)

1. The VCAP pin of STM32 microcontroller forgot to connect the capacitor.

2. The MUTE mute control signal is only connected to the Bluetooth module, which affects other channels, and the V2.0 version has been connected to the single-chip microcomputer.

3. The gallium nitride power supply is noisy, it is not recommended to use, and the ordinary switching power supply used in the later stage realizes the power supply, and when the wireless charging part is working, there is also a certain interference to the audio power amplifier part, so that the noise floor increases significantly.
