Description
A robust, open-source data logger and LoRa telemetry system built on the ESP32-S3 platform, specifically designed for amateur and student-built sounding rockets. It simultaneously captures and logs crucial flight data (3-axis acceleration, rotation, magnetic field, barometric pressure, and temperature) while transmitting real-time telemetry to a Ground Station (GS) via the long-range E22 LoRa module.
The hardware is designed as a compact flight board, integrating multiple high-accuracy sensors vital for rocket flight analysis (tracking apogee, detecting motor cut-off, parachute deployment timing, and stability).
-
Integrated Sensors: The system incorporates a combination of high-G (ADXL375) and high-resolution (ICM-42688-P) accelerometers for comprehensive data capture during launch and coast phases. The BMP388 provides precise altitude tracking.
-
Interfacing: All sensors utilize the I2C Bus for simplified communication with the ESP32.
-
LoRa Module (E22): The E22 module uses a dedicated SPI interface for efficient, long-range data transmission, crucial for retrieving the rocket's status mid-flight.
-
Expansion: The mission unit has expantion capability based on excess pins from the esp32 that can function as burner controll or stabliazation ect.
