Description

This is a superheterodyne AM radio based on a design from Ronald Quan's "Build Your Own Transistor Radios."  If you are looking to learn more about AM radios and transistor circuit design this is an excellent resource and I highly recommend it!

There are two versions: the first one uses transformers for the audio output stage and the second one uses only transistors.  I recommend the transistor only version as it is much easier to find the components for.  The transistor only audio amplifier is custom designed by myself, much of the theory is covered in "Audio Power Amplifier Design" by Douglas Self.  I am sure you will be impressed by the performance of this radio!  A 3D printed case exists and is forthcoming.  Enjoy and happy soldering!
