This is a Minecraft-style compass that can point to real-world locations, featuring a similar appearance and functionality to the in-game version. It uses a WS2812B LED array to display pixel patterns and is powered by an ESP32C3 microcontroller. I chose this MCU because I initially wanted it to sync with the game via mods, while also putting my stock of ESP32C3 chips to good use.
The colorful pattern on top uses acrylic cutting and UV printing services provided by JLC. I'm not sure if JLCPCB's international site offers this service.
After testing light-diffusing films from multiple brands, I ultimately chose LTJ075—a PET film that delivers the best light diffusion effect.

Additional note: You may have seen a demo video on Reddit showing someone holding a compass on a high-speed train. That version was not part of this project. This project was released in November 2024 and features a larger form factor with actual geolocation pointing functionality.
