Description

Linux-powered Drumset Business Card

Summary
Since I develop electronic musical instruments, I wanted my business card to be more than just a computer. It had to be a playable instrument.
This project is a tiny Linux-powered business card you can play. Touch the printed pads to trigger drums; input and audio run in userspace on a minimal Linux image. This version highlights the novelty of "Linux on a card" and the ability to script/extend with standard Linux tools.

Branding side

Drumset side

For makers who prefer Python/CircuitPython, there's a sibling RP2040 edition that's instant-on and very beginner-friendly.

  • Ready-made tooling (package management, services, scripting)
  • Educational bring-up: kernel + rootfs + userspace services
  • Because it's challeging :)

  • USB-C (power), 3.5 mm audio out
  • DC/DC ICs, LED, passives
  • Multi-color silkscreen PCB with hidden pads

Licenses

  • Hardware: CERN-OHL-S v2.0 (publish editable sources if you modify and convey)
  • Software: GPL-3.0 only
  • Docs/Images: CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, except the following: my personal branding elements: name, logo, QR code, background, visual layout are excluded from all open licenses and remain proprietary; for branding elements, all rights reserved; but you can still freely use them editorially (news, reviews, academic commentary). So the side with my branding is covered by a watermark - use your own.

See details on licensing in my github repository. For commercial use, please contact me first.
